James Tose after Chadderton

“We Have To Bounce Back On Monday Night”

I spoke to City boss James Tose after his side’s disappointing 0-4 defeat to Chadderton on the opening day of the NWCFL 17/18 season. This is what he had to say on the game:

“It certainly wasn’t an ideal start, but I can’t really put my finger on what went wrong. Chadderton are a good team and we knew they were going to be.”

“I thought we started really well and for the first twenty minutes we were the better team.I thought that we looked like the team that were going to score first, it seemed like there were two good teams on the pitch and it was going to be tight.”

“Obviously, its never helps when you have a makeshift back four. Even at one-nil down, with the goal coming against the run of play, it changed the game-as goals do. I was looking for a positive reaction and for us to try and get back into the game.”

“We had some half chances, which could have equalised the game and would have given us the momentum. I think the penalty miss summed up our day, yes they scored some good goals as well as looking lively up top. We knew that area would worry us today, especially when Tyran Taylor went off.”

“It was never going to be easy, I was just disappointed with the reaction after the first goal. There was a long time left of the game, and we should be capable of scoring goals against most teams. But as I said before, it wasn’t an ideal start.”

“We have to take it on the chin and we have the game on Monday night to bounce back, and that’s what we are going to have to do. If this defeat wakes us everybody up and gets the lads going-Then okay, we’ll accept it. We just want to get three points on the board as soon as possible.”

“There were no excuses today, Chadderton played well, and will be up there at the end of the season. We can’t look at anyone else but ourselves, we just have to make sure that we put it right on Monday night.”
