James Tose after Holker

“Make Or Break Our Season”
I spoke to Carlisle City boss James Tose following his side’s triumphant win and leapfrog over Cumbria rivals Holker OB. This is what he had to say on the game:
“It’s a great win; I think we did the damage in the first half. We got the early goal after starting really well and it was all about putting them under pressure. Getting that goal so early calmed us down and we began to pass the ball around well-We emphasised before the game what we wanted to do there.”
“James Earl was excellent, he calmed the play down and got the ball happening for us which was what we had been missing really; and that gave everyone else confidence. We were quite fortuitous for the goalkeeper’s handling but for Josh’s goal, the free kick was going in and the goal of the game was the third.”
“That third set us up for the victory and at three-nil you don’t expect to lose a game in that position. I think the second half was a bit more careful from us and we were a little bit more direct to slow things down. We tried not to let them get any momentum and we found that the ball just came back to us.”
“Their back four was getting too much time on the ball and were sending good passes and diagonal balls past our full backs. We tried to stop their supply as they went more direct, so we changed formation and put Kyle Armstrong on to be that extra body in midfield to fill out. Then, the two lads up top worked their socks off, and when Jamie Heath came on and we reverted to two up top, we stopped the service.”
“After that, we got more control of the game and got the fourth goal which we deserved. Generally, a good day all around. It’s a good win and especially for our goal difference and three points against a team around us which is almost like a six pointer. The next three games can make or break our season with us playing teams around us.”
“Hopefully, we’ll take the good form into the next few games, it’s just a shame we’ve been on the bad side of a few results recently in games where we could have had a few more points. We have to keep plugging away and I’m just hoping we can pick squads like we had tonight.”
