James Tose interview- 9th August 2017

“It All Builds Towards Saturday”

I spoke to City boss James Tose in an interview ahead of the opening game of the season against Chadderton. James first spoke of how he thought pre season went:
“I think we’ve had a really good pre season. The lads set the tone from the first training session, especially with having over twenty lads down to most sessions. That shows everybody that there is competition for places and that we have a bigger and better squad.”

“We have more quality which is good for the club. The type of football which we have played in pre season has been unplayable at times-Especially some of the movement plays around the box. We have played nice football on the eye, but also effective football.”

“Because of the way that pre season has went, everybody has had their fair share and stayed involved. We probably have a twenty-two man squad, and they will all be fighting for their place in the matchday sixteen. Hopefully, all twenty-two will contribute throughout the season”

“I think we have a really good quality of squad, Saturday isn’t ideal as Dan Greenslade has his wedding. That takes Dan Balmer and Jamie Heath out of the squad, as well as Craig Benjamin being on his honeymoon. Dave Wallace and Rhys Graham are on holiday and Michael Slack is playing cricket.”

“With four out of the five centre halves missing, someone is going to have to step in and do a job for the team. I’m sure it will settle down throughout the month which we have four home games in, which is quite surprising. Hopefully, we can kick on and gain some momentum.”

“I would like to think that we have been consistent throughout pre season and it all builds towards Saturday. We are very much looking forward to it.”
