TOUGH END TO THE SEASON IN PROSPECT
City now have eight games remaining in their first season in Hallmark Security League division 1.
They are likely to be a tough series of games with seven of them against sides in the top 10 in the table. City's record against leading sides this season is not too good so far, with only one point gained from Charnock Richard in matches against teams in the top ten.
They will all be key games as City's opponents City of Liverpool FC, Whitchurch Alport, Alsager, Sandbach & Prestwich Heys are all pushing for either outright promotion or a place in the play-offs.

FIRST HOME LEAGUE WIN OF THE YEAR
City gained their first home league win of 2017 yesterday, beating Eccleshall 2-1. City went ahead in the 7th minute with a delightful long-distance goal from Ben Davidson, his first in the league. The visitors equalised after 52 minutes when a corner was headed in by Josh Cartledge. City's Michael Reed then missed a penalty, the third in succession that City have failed to convert. Just when it looked as if the game was headed for a draw, Jamie Heath fired in a fine low shot from 20 yards.
The win takes City to 40 points, and into joint 14th place with Silsden, who have three games in hand.

WEEKEND PREVIEW
City are at home to Eccleshall tomorrow in the Hallmark Security league (k.o. 3.00). The visitors are experiencing a difficult season with only three wins to date from 30 games, and yet they still have a realistic chance of catching third-bottom Atherton LR, as Eccleshall have two games in hand. It is the first game of an unusual double-header, with City going to Staffordshire next Saturday.

In the semi-final of the Ken Glover Memorial Shield, City Reserves meet Bransty at the Sheepmount (k.o. 1.30). The winners will face either Workington Athletic or Silloth in the final.

COUNTY CUP SEMI-FINAL TONIGHT
City travel to Penrith tonight in the Cumberland Cup semi-final (k.o. 7.30). There are injury doubts over Tyran Taylor, who suffered a muscle injury in the quarter-final v Netherhall, and also with winger Ben Davidson, who received a knock against Holker OB last Tuesday. City will also be without Brad Hayton who is cup-tied.
City's run to the semi-final has seen them yet to concede a goal although they have all been home ties. Penrith have enjoyed home wins over Braithwaite and Northbank, followed by a tense penalty shoot-out success at Silloth in the quarter-final.
Penrith are currently 14th in Northern League division 1, and they have one of the poorer home records to date, with just five wins from fifteen games.
Admission prices tonight are £6 adults, £3 concessions, £1 under 16s and free for under 12s.
