And I loved every minute of it. The book has serious pros and cons. First of all, these three girl characters are annoying. This was going to be a four star for me, but the last 50 pages just killed it. The characters are interesting enough, but I never felt like we got to know them as distinctly as the girls from Luxe. As the story flutters from the perspective of one girl to the other we get a quite a fascinating picture of what New York was like for a woman in Last of all, there’s Astrid.
Personally I was shocked, excited, pissed, happy, heartbroken, and absolutely in love while I read through these pages. I liked Cordelia in the beginning, although I think that she should have left before and not after the wedding.

Honestly, I struggled with the writing in this brignt. It was more about girls trying to make it in NYC, and they attended a few speakeasies along the way. They are all passive heroines, letting things happen to them instead of making things happen. Cordelia is the best of them, she’s tough and she genuinely wants to find her long-lost father, who’s now a famous bootlegger.
