The book is definitely written for a younger audience, a fact which is obvious by the way in which I was able to plough through the book in under six hours.
In a way, I was happy about that, because there was no unnecessary side plot that would deflect out attention from the main plot of the story. The things flooded into the room around him.

Rithmatists are humanity’s primary defence against the mysterious Wild Chalklings. Rithmatics is the magic of bringing to life little chalk figures called chalklings ostensibly to fight their murderous wild brethrenbut as par for the course for a Sanderson book, watching chalkings destroy each other is only a tiny piece of the magic.
That said, the rest of the book is fantastic and highly enjoyable.
