James Tose interview- 4/7/17

“We Want To Try And Plant Seeds In The Players’ Minds”

This is the first of a two part interview with James Tose who I spoke to after training on Tuesday Night. He spoke about the importance of tempo in training and numbers in the squad:

“Tempo is massive-Everything comes down to tempo. In training, we try and match a game tempo and I think our lads equipped themselves well to do so. They always work their socks off in training!”

“What we try to do with any practise session is to recreate a match situation. Obviously, its sometimes difficult as it isn’t the real thing but, the more you can do it the more you can replicate what happens on the pitch.”

“We want to try and plant seeds in the players’ minds to show them a few patterns of play which may come about in a game. Hopefully, that will all culminate and lead to results.”

Speaking about squad numbers and selection, James had this to say:
“I’m looking to try and bring down twenty two on Saturday. So, two teams of eleven for each half. Obviously, I would like to have a squad of around 22 at the start of the season, but that would have to have been whittled down.”

“Not Everyone is going to be in the squad so we need to make sure that we try and keep everybody happy. We also need to give everybody the opportunity to impress, and everyone will be needed as always.”

“Its important to keep everybody happy as we have a smashing group of lads who want to work hard and do well for Carlisle City. We’re putting the club on a platform where any decent players in area want to come and play for us.”

“You don’t know what exact numbers you want because you are after quality more than anything. Twenty two would be ideal as I said, but more specifically more options away from home would be good.”

The second part of this interview will be in Saturday’s match programme which you can buy for just £1 in the ground.
