I spoke to Josh Simpson about his return to the club and personal targets:
“It feels good to be back with all the lads, its always good to be playing with lads that you’ve known and played with for a while. That plays a big part in football and will make you try even harder for the three points. You want to win more with lads you know so I’m ready to get going now.”
Talking about the difference in his spells at City, Josh had this to say:
“Its basically the same lads, obviously there’s a few more additions and not bad ones for that matter. We’ve got some really good players here and I think we’ll have a good squad this year in all honesty. I think I’ve improved personally since I was last at City but as I said, I think the squad has as well. We can push on this year and challenge.”
“I’ve known James for a while so, it was never going to take much to get to know him. I knew what he was about and knew he was a good coach, the lads always have good things to say about him. That made it an easy option for me, really.”
“Pre-season has been tough so far and has really got the lungs going. Its been good but, the footballs will come out soon we’ll be ready for the start of the season. You’ve got to get the games in, if you don’t have a good pre-season, then it’s a bad start to the season. A good pre-season and run in by Christmas, then we could be where we want to be.”
Josh won promotion to the NWCFL in the 2015/16 season and he spoke about the chances of continuing that this year:
“I certainly hope that promotion is a possibility, I know the lads are aiming for that. The minimum expectation is that we get play-offs and if we can do that and push on for promotion, it will be a good season. Personally, I would like to score a few more than I usually do but, as long as I’m playing as a part of the team-I’m happy really.
